This is also done to replace a large filling when a lot of the tooth goes missing. A dental crown is also placed when a weak tooth exists and to help it not get fractured or cracked up. If a tooth is not of the proper shape and size, then too, it can be given a cover with the help of a dental crown. These can also be used when root canal therapy has been done on a tooth or teeth. It will fit on top of the dental cavity in which gutta-percha has been filled in place of dental pulp.
